The game is released concurrently with the North American release of the Pokemon Platinum movie: Giratina and the Sky Warrior. Featuring the debut of Giratina and Shaymin in the Pokemon Diamond & Pearl series.
The game was originally released in Japan on 13th of September 2009 as “Pocket Monsters Platinum”. The game is third part of the Pokemon Diamond & Pearl game series. It is basically a modified version of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl with new features!
New Pokemon Forms
- The debut of Giratina’s Origine and Another Forme
- Shaymin’s Sky and Land Forme
- New forms of Rotom!
- Ability to capture both of Dialga & Palkia
- Ability to capture Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno!
New Design
- New Storyline! With new characters!
- New Area! a 3D Area “The Reverse World” (The Torn World)

Pokemon Platinum also features a new GTS (Global Trade Station), which features:
- Trade-and-seek pokemon from friends
- Battle Video Recorder to record battle videos. Videos can be uploaded online to the Online Battle Ranking on the Nintendo DS!
- Wi-Fi Plaza with Online mini games!
- 4 Players voice chat! (In Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, only two players could voice chat)
- Battle Frontier (as in Pokemon Emerald)
